The capacity of our tankers range from of 550 to 1800 metric tons and for islands with shallow lagoons and harbors we have still smaller barges with carrying capacities from as low as 25 to 80 metric tons.
Industrial and Commercial Deliveries
At FSM we recognise the special needs of industrial operators in Male' and the atolls and we are geared to provide special delivery services to meet the requirement of such operations wherever in the country they may be.
While fuel to retail outlets, cold storage operators, coast guard and the power plants in Male' are delivered by our on-land fleet of vehicles, deliveries to canning plants, and industrial islands in the atolls are ensured with our strong distribution infrastructure and our fleet of marine vessels and barges, that can cater to varying geographical conditions and unloading requirements of our customers.
Fuel Bunkering Service
Foreing Going Vessels
We have established a separate division and dedicated team to cater for the international fuel bunkering sector. Our customers in this sector include super yachts, cruise liners, cargo vessels, international ferries and visiting international navy ships and navy submarines. Our team is equipped to deliver bunkering services to vessels anchored at any port and possibly vessels in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of the Maldives in a near future.
Spillages and leakages during bunkering operations are a primary source of oil pollution from ships and it has shown that many of the bunker overflows and spillages that do occur can be contributed to human error, hence our bunkering operations are carefully planned and executed, bunkering personnel involved in the bunkering operation on board have no other tasks and remain at their workstations. We are a member of the IBA, and we work to implement the latest standards and regulations recommended by the group to out operations.
Our procedures ensure the risks associated with the operation are assessed and that controls are in place to mitigate these risks. The procedures include contingency arrangements in the event of a spill such as prior to commencing operation, pre-loading checks and containment arrangements such as oil booms are in place and clean-up equipments such as oil dispersant chemicals are on hand if needed.
With 99% sea area, the Maldives is primarily dependent on sea transport for passenger and cargo movement. The growth of the two major industries, tourism and fisheries has lead to an increase in the use of different types and sizes of sea transport vessels. We provide fuel bunkering services to the vessels in the both the industries and in the transport sector. The bulk of this is handled by our on land fleet, which supply fuel to the vessels at the domestic harbour.
Gas Stations and Retail Services
FSM is proud to be the first company in the Maldives to introduce modern fuel dispensing systems. The dispensing systems changed the way fuel was handled offering unprecedented convenience to our customers and a level of safety in the handling of fuel that was never before seen in the country.
At present we have three gas stations in Male’ that provide continuous supply of petrol, diesel, marine engine lubricants, battery water, chemicals, automobile lubricants and other industrial lubricants. We have planned to introduce lubricant change and engine oil change services at our gas stations in the near future.
Latest stations are located at the outer perimeters of the city, well away from residential buildings and are equipped with safety gears that surpass the national safety standards.
Retail in the islands are managed by our network of distributors in the atolls, supported by our provincial fuel terminals located in various atolls of the country.
